What I’ve Done
June 2022 - August 2022
Quantitative Strategist Intern, Goldman Sachs
Wrangled 8 TB of financial data stored in Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) using PySpark and Pandas
Leveraged Dash to create an interactive dashboard that remodels and visualizes 12 previously inaccessible datasets, allowing 400+ end users across 2 divisions and 9 teams to conveniently analyze client-level statistics
Utilized Python to implement supervised machine learning techniques (e.g. Logistic Regression, Gradient Tree Boosting) to classify incoming clients as stable or unstable based on their static attributes and time-series investment behavior
February 2022 - May 2022
Software Development Engineer Intern, Amazon Web Services
Designed and implemented an AI Operations Bot that automatically triages incoming tickets, analyzes customer impact, links affected resources, and provides on-calls with recommended steps to perform root cause analysis on detected faults
Built the system in Native AWS with dependencies on SNS, SQS, Lambda, and Maxis Service (a document-oriented API)
Saved 27 hours per month of on-call investigation time, allowing engineers to focus on bug fixes and service improvements
August 2020 - August 2021
Pioneered 2 programming courses: Programming Methodology in Java and Data Science Foundations in Python
Received 50+ five-star reviews and recommendations on Snapask; became the most-liked (15K) and most-shared (1.2K) instructor profile on an online teaching group of 50K members
Organized and led 500+ hours of class sessions, small-group office hours, and individual project consultations
May 2020 - August 2020
Software Engineer Intern,
Developed an online quiz application with Flask and PostgreSQL to allow students to answer questions on Python programming concepts, receive immediate feedback, and analyze past performance
Generated 35K+ quiz questions since the application was adopted by Duke’s largest introductory Computer Science course; project paper accepted by the 26th ACM conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE)
May 2018 - Present
College Admissions Consultant
Assisted 10+ clients to gain acceptance and attend one of their top three choice institutions (e.g. Duke, CalTech, Cornell)
Accumulated extensive client communication experience through 500+ hours of 1-on-1 consulting
Duke Course Recommender
Built a website that makes personalized course recommendations for Duke students by applying the kNN, matrix factorization, and regression ML algorithms, achieving an optimized RMSE score 50% lower than baseline RMSE
The path leading up to my entrepreneurial journey in Computer Science Education.
